The leaves of Sterculia foetida grow alternate and crowded at the ends of the twigs.
The leaf is digitate with 7 to 9 leaflets and a 15-20 cm petiole.
The leaflets are bright green-coloured above and paler beneath. The leaflet are glabrous on both sides.
The leaflets are subsessile.
The leaflets of Sterculia foetida are 10-15 cm long and 4-5 cm wide. The shape of the blade is elliptic, the apex is acuminate, the base is attenuate (often oblique) and the margins are entire.
The venation of the leaf is pinnate with a prominent midrib.
