The flowers of Sterculia foetida are grouped in terminal or axillary panicles.
Sterculia foetida has both bisexual and male flowers on the same plant (andromonoecious).
The calyx is composed of 5 sepals. The sepals are lanceolate, 1.5-1.6 cm long and 0.5 cm wide. The calyx is light green and reddish-coloured and pubescent.
The corolla is absent.
The male flowers have 10 stamens clustered on a staminal column.
The bisexual flowers have a 6 mm long gynandrophore bearing 10 stamens , a globose ovary and a 5 mm long style with a capitate stigma. The flowers have a characteristic smell.
